The full moon lunar eclipse in Taurus on the 19th of November 2021 peaks Friday 9am London time and will square Jupiter and trine Pluto. This type of astrological configuration is known as an ANIMATED FIGURE and combines both tension (square) and flow (trine) to create a great big push of energy to help make things happen. BOOM.
With expansive Jupiter at the crux of a T square everything is going to be intensified. Pluto is all about destruction and transformation, so yes, there is BIG BIG energy at your disposal here.
To add a few more flames to the celestial fire, the ongoing Saturn-Uranus square (which I won’t bore you with again but indicates general unrest to do with restrictions and freedom) is majorly triggered by Mars this week.
Some good news. Those changes you’re going to make? They’re absolutely going to be for the best. In fact, you should find something to smile about amongst the chaos with Venus in a trine aspect to Uranus. Glamorous Neptune is also trine Mercury at this eclipse offering artistic flair and healing through words.
Full Moon Lunar Eclipse – Release the past
Eclipses reveal what you need to do to be truly happy and the steps you can take to get there. They’re renowned for being a little intense because they push you out of your comfort zone to focus on the areas where you need to grow.
Often changes can appear out of nowhere and this is quite likely with Uranus and Saturn activated this week, but the key thing to remember is that all eclipses are beneficial in the long run. The purpose of a full moon LUNAR eclipse is to clear the way for a magnificent new beginning.
A lunar eclipse often allows hidden pieces of information to pop to the surface to be released once and for all. This could be a way of life, a relationship, or something as subtle as an attitude or belief system.
At the time the full moon is eclipsed (when you’re blocked from basking in moonlight) you’re asked to look deeper, to bring whatever it is you no longer need into the light in order for it to be nurtured, released and healed.
Despite the possibility of a little upheaval, after each eclipse you will come closer to who you are, how you got here (your south node) and where you’re going next (the north node). The key message at this full moon lunar eclipse is to find ways to gracefully release your grip and to heal and forgive what is holding you back.
The Taurus-Scorpio eclipse cycle
The full moon in Taurus kicks off a new series of eclipses along the Taurus-Scorpio axis lasting until the 28th of October, 2023. I once heard Taurus and Scorpio compared to FOOD and SEX which is a super cute analogy but this axis is probably best understood as the two different sides of VALUE.
Taurus, an earth sign, represents the tangible values we have. I’m talking money, security, assets, business, food, property.
Scorpio, a water sign, is all about your EMOTIONAL values, or more specifically the values you share with others. This means debts and loans if you’re thinking financially, but it also covers how you value life itself. Death, psychology, all the deeply feeling things that are often taboo in the modern world are ruled by Scorpio. This also includes your body, eg, SEX.
Taurus and Scorpio are FIXED signs which basically means they won’t budge. They both feel deeply but in very different ways. Scorpio likes to control. Taurus likes to have.
Taurus would rather not delve too deep. They are most happy if they are financially secure and safe and ideally a little pampered. Scorpio wants to be reborn, again and again, like a phoenix writhing in pain before bursting out in golden splendour like the transformative legend that she is.
North node in Taurus
The north and south nodes of the moon were traditionally described as a celestial dragon. The north node ☊ is the dragon’s head representing your destiny and where you need to go. The south node ☋ is the dragon’s tail, sweeping up and clearing issues from the past.
As the north node is now in Taurus and the south node in Scorpio we’re asked to release karma from Scorpio subjects and head bravely into earth loving Taurus territory. What this actually means is that the next two years are about building strong foundations for your future and creating situations that are sustainable and durable.
Of course, wherever these two signs sit within your birth chart is going to show you the way, but everyone will have a sense of being pushed towards creating more security, looking after the earth, safer economic models and using their five senses rather than falling back into the deep, dark, Scorpionic areas of control and transformation.
Since Taurus is closely connected to the earth and nature we should see important developments to do with climate change on the horizon. This week is actually a great time to connect to Mother Earth. Try to find some time to walk barefoot on the ground or simply out in nature.
A full moon lunar eclipse in Taurus is also a great time to focus on self-care. Ground yourself through your five senses, good food, massage and sensual, comforting treats. Find some time to relax. With the current planetary line up the main thing you want to focus on now is nurturing yourself, healing and forgiving the past.
Apache Tear crystal for the full moon lunar eclipse in Taurus, 19th November
After the new moon meditation for Scorpio earlier this month (which focused on figuring out the blocks you have and hopefully doing a bit of EFT to help release them) now is the time to heal. I chose apache tear crystal for this month’s full moon meditation which is a form of volcanic glass known as obsidian. Unlike black obsidian, which really packs a punch, apache tear is actually very soothing and gentle.
Apache tear is a super comforting stone, named after tears because they have little splashes of smoothness which look wet. They are a much gentler form of obsidian which makes them perfect to use when working through emotional pain.
With all the intense changes we’re going through this week it is such a great time to release past hurts. Maybe you’d like to soothe your inner child? You could put your focus on a specific memory you have, or simply use this time to work on the heart chakra and nurture, release and forgive whatever caused the pain you are holding in your body.
Meditation for the full moon lunar eclipse in Taurus, 19th November
Before you begin this meditation, look back to the work you did earlier this month to bring to light any emotional pain that has been holding you back. Make an intention to forgive and heal any of the hurt you felt. You might like to check in with your inner child first, and ask how they are feeling.
Sit in a meditative position with your apache crystal in your hand, palms facing upwards. Focus on the breath and scan your entire body looking out for any tension and breathing deeply into the tense areas. Focus on relaxing your muscles, dropping your shoulders and elongating the spine.
Now place your awareness on the heart centre and imagine a bright, spinning, green light expanding as you breathe in, then returning to the size of a fairy light on the out breath. On each in breath imagine the light expanding just a little but more. On each out breath allow your body to become more relaxed.
Scan your body again for any areas of tightness or heavy emotions. Visualise the green light filling your body and healing any emotional pain you are holding there. Allow yourself to feel any emotions but put the focus on forgiveness. You can repeat the mantra ‘I forgive you, I’m sorry and I love you.’
When you are ready, continue to focus on the breath and on each out breath visualise the green light becoming smaller and smaller until it returns to the size of a fairy light.
